US Payroll - Prevailing Wage Setup
Prevailing wage (PW) jobs are jobs that pay out a fairly determined compensation package for a given trade in a given region. These packages often includes wages plus benefits. Enterprise allows users to mark jobs as PW and assign them PW Rate Codes, which can themselves be assigned specific benefits and trade pay rates.
Step 1: Turn on PW for Jobs
Pgm: PYJOBLOC – Job Work Location Maintenance; standard Treeview path: US Payroll > Setup > Jobs > Job Work Locations
PW jobs can be set up on the Job Work Location screen. When creating a new job, check the 'PW (Prevailing Wage)' box if the job falls under PW rules, and check the 'Davis-Bacon Rules' box if Davis-Bacon rules apply.
Step 2: PW Rate Setup
Pgm: PYPWCODE – PW Rate Setup; standard Treeview path: US Payroll > Administration > Benefits > PW Rate Codes
PW rate codes can be created in the PW Rate Codes screen. Press the [Add/Edit] button to create a new code. Then, use the Rate Details section to assign benefits to the PW Rate Code and the Trade Codes section to assign specific hourly pay rates to trade codes working on the PW job. Press the [Apply To Payroll] button to update all relevant company financials.
Trade Codes can be setup in the Trade Codes screen (standard Treeview path: US Payroll > Setup > Local Tables > Trade Codes)
Step 3: PW Benefits by Trade
Pgm: PYBENTRD – Benefit by Trade; standard Treeview path: US Payroll > Administration > Benefits > PW Benefits by Trade
PW trade pay rates can also be set up on the PW Benefits by Trade screen. This screen is also useful for searching which trades have been assigned which benefits. Enter the relevant codes in the Company, Job, and Benefits fields to search for all trade codes entitled to the benefit working the PW job.
If the 'Davis- Bacon Rules' box in unchecked for a job code then the system will automatically pick the pay rate for an employee as determined by the Preferred Pay Rate field on the Rates/Salary tab on the Employee Profile.
