Overview

Blank Check Stock

Blank check stock can be ordered from any check vendor, such as Staples. The following formats work with blank check stock:

• Double Stub with MICR Version 1

• Double Stub with MICR Version 3

• Double Stub with MICR Version 4

• Single Stub with MICR Version 2

Examples of these formats are attached below. Prior to going live, you are encouraged to send these formats to your bank for review, to confirm that they are acceptable to your bank.

MICR

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) requires that magnetic ink be used on checks in the MICR, which stands for "Magnetic Ink Character Recognition". Many of our check formats print the MICR at the bottom, and you are able to purchase MICR toner affordably at most office supply stores.

Having magnetic ink is usually not required by your bank. Should you desire to have MICR pre-printed, enter in your banking information when ordering the check stock. The downside of pre-printing MICR on checks is that if there is a mistake on any check and it has to be re-printed, the check number has to be noted as a "Wasted Check" and can never be used. Should you desire to have MICR pre-printed, enter in your information when ordering checks.
