Nexus - Frequently Asked Questions
With the latest release of Nexus 01, we understand you may have some questions. To help, we have gathered some useful information so you can quickly find the answers you need. Below are some of the questions customers have shared with us.
Installations
When will we get the full Nexus update in Cloud?
May 29, 2026.
When will Nexus be available in Sandbox?
Same weekend as in Production - May 29, 2026.
Is this something we already have access to, or is it an additional license?
AI use is optional and comes at a cost.
Infrastructure
Are the underlying tables and logic for programs changing in Nexus?
Nothing major. There are new features across all modules but no different than any other software release.
AI & Analytics
Models
What AI model is Nexus built on?
It is built on OpenAI (ChatGPT Enterprise). It does not train on your data.
When will OpenAI models be available for selection in Agent Builder - as released by OpenAI or determined by CMiC?
As soon as we can certify that the new model works with our agents.
ACU (AI Consumption Unit)
If a BI report has some AI calculations, will we be charged every time the report runs? Or every time the data is updated?
No, this is a one-time use that creates the code/syntax for a specific calculation.
Can we track ACU usage at the user-level?
With slight modification, you can track how many requests individual users made via the ACU Dashboard we provided in Analytics. For details, please refer to Nexus 01 Highlight - ACU Usage Plan and Tracking.
Does the "AI Powered Natural Language Query" in Table Mode consume ACUs?
Yes, it does.
Can ACU limits be set at a user-level, user-type, user-group, department, by module, etc.?
No, ACU limits are set at the system-level right now. Open to feedback for future enhancements.
Agents and Security
Will task agents inherit the users’ permissions? What about field security? What is stopping a user querying other areas they do not have access to?
Task agents consume our APIs. So if the API can insert the data, then so can the agent. Agents respect our existing application security. There is no difference between what the user can query in the screen vs what the agent can see.
What's stopping a user from using the AI for personal tasks/activities?
Agents don't have access to the internet and are limited to what they can do based on their system prompt and user role. So that would block a user from doing anything useful for their personal work.
Can AI do background task monitoring? For example, every time an image is uploaded, scan for PII or safety violations?
Not right now, but its something we are working on.
Can the AL button be hidden if a user does not have access?
Not at the moment but it is something we will consider.
Features
Can Ask AI go beyond what is currently shown on screen, especially in table-based views? For example, can it query and return users assigned to X job in User Maintenance?
Our query agents can work with any data in the Analytics query they are mapped to. This is something you can customize if you want to add additional columns to the default data sets.
Drawings
Extract Tool for Drawings – Will it be part of the new AI charging model?
Yes, using the extract with AI feature consumes ACUs and is chargeable. The legacy/old version of the OCR extraction is still available but it's not as capable as the AI-powered extraction.
Imaging
Will there be AI within Nexus Image Manager?
Long term, yes.
Console and User Interface
Will our program customizations via Lite Editor remain unchanged?
Correct, there will be no changes to your Lite Editor configuration.
Nexus 01 has a lot of whitespace. Can we have an option to change the padding in programs to allow more information density?
Yes, there is a bit more padding added to the screens to improve readability and to more closely follow UI best practices. We have already increased the screen density as high as we are comfortable. We remain open to feedback but we are not providing any flags/settings to change the density at this time.
Can the Navigation Rail show full names instead of abbreviations?
We didn't feel that we had the room for long program names so we went with initials. When you expand the navigation rail, we are displaying the full name of each top level menu item.
Can we have themes in TEST so it's easier to differentiate environments and also prevent them from being overwritten with clones?
We have a new feature where admins can enable a banner that will appear over your console logo. We did this to help with quickly identifying PROD vs TEST. For more detail, please refer to Nexus 01 Highlight - New Standard Console in Nexus 01.
Please provide clarity on custom consoles and if/when they will be removed as options. As we can tell with what we have been told so far regarding Nexus Console is that after Nexus 02 we will be forced to use the new Nexus Console and our custom consoles will go away. However, how will we handle the situation of multiple consoles if everyone is forced to use the same new console?
No that is not correct. We are not making any changes to your custom consoles or menus. The only thing that changes moving from Nexus 01 > 02 is we are removing the Classic theme. The Classic theme allows admins to change the look of our screens back to they way they were. This feature was added as a transition tool but we do no intend to support it long term, which is why its being removed in Nexus 02.
