Each mode has an Edit menu option found on the top left navigation bar that allows users to translate all of the terms and messages, or to mark all translations as verified in the current mode
Translate...
Depending on the current mode that's being used, this option will display as "Translate Dictionary", "Translate Messages", or "Translate Menu". The Translate... option is not available in the Edit menu of Program Mode.
Note If the Google Translate service is unavailable, this option will be disabled.
Untranslated Messages Only
Check this box to only translate terms, messages, or menus that have not been translated yet.
Unverified Messages Only
Check this box to only translate terms, messages, or menus that have not been verified yet.
Note If both checkboxes are checked, both untranslated and unverified terms, messages, or menus will be translated. If both are unchecked, all terms, messages, or menus will be translated.
Start Translation
Click this button to start automatically translating the terms, messages, or menus in the current mode.
Stop Translation
Once a translation has started and has yet to complete, this button can be used to stop the translation process. Any terms that were translated before the process was stopped will remain translated.
Close
Click this button to exit the Translate... pop-up window.
Verification
Verification is required in order to determine if a translation has been reviewed for accuracy. The Verified checkbox and the Verification pop-up window are two different ways to mark a term, message, or menu as verified.
The Verified checkbox is used to manually mark each individual term, message, or menu translation as verified. For example, when using a machine translation, someone will need to manually check each translation for correctness and mark the translations as verified.
The Verification pop-up window allows users to automatically mark terms, messages, or menus as verified or unverified based on the selection criteria set in the pop-up window. If verification of each individual translations is not required (for example, if the translations are provided manually by a native speaking person), the users can mark translations as verified all at once.
The following describes the fields and buttons available on the Verification pop-up window.
Mark Messages As
Select to mark messages as either "Verified" or "Unverified".
Update Messages
Select which terms, messages, or menus to update. Users can choose to update all, only translations that were machine translated, or only translations that were not machine translated.
Update
Click the Update button to automatically mark terms, messages, or menu translations as verified or unverified according to the selection criteria.
Cancel
Click the Cancel button to exit the Verification pop-up window without making any changes.
View Translations Exceeding Max Length
In Message Mode and JSP Mode, the “View Translations Exceeding Max Length” option can be selected from the Edit Menu. Sometimes the translated text can be longer than the original text and may exceed the maximum number of characters or bytes (for multibyte characters) allowed.
When a translation is entered manually, an error message will appear to let the user know that the translation is too long and should be shortened.
When a machine translation service is used (like Google Translate), then there can be multiple translations that exceed the maximums. To find translations that have exceeded the maximum length, users can use the “View Translations Exceeding Max Length” option, located in the Edit menu.
With this option selected, the table will be filtered to show translations which have exceeded the maximum length. Such translations will be highlighted with a red indicator as shown in the screenshot below.
