Assign Roles to Dashboards – Dashboard Security

Assigning security roles to dashboards

To grant a user access to a dashboard/query/card, the security role to which the user belongs must be assigned to the dashboard/query/card. This can be done using the “Assign Roles to Dashboard” option under the Utilities menu of BI Dashboard Builder (shown above), by an administrator with the BISECMNG system privilege. This option is available without opening a dashboard. Depending on security setup, the administrator’s security role may also need to be assigned to the Assign Roles to Dashboards program. For more details, refer to Security Setup & Rules – Catalog & Dashboard Security.

NOTE: A link to launch the Assign Roles to Dashboards utility can be added as a new Console tab using the Console tool, or to a Treeview using the Treeview Builder tool. The Target for this utility, which is required by the tools to create a link to the utility, is “SD - Assign Roles to BI Dashboards”.

Security access can also be assigned using BI Analytics, in a batch style manner which involves assigning security roles to objects in a bucket. The advantage of using this method over using the Assign Roles screen in BI Dashboards is that in BI Analytics multiple security roles can be assigned to multiple objects at once. Refer to the BI Analytics guide for more information

For details about dashboard security, please refer to Security Setup & Rules – Catalog & Dashboard Security.

Manage Schedule Export

This option launches the Scheduler Log screen. All scheduled reports are tracked in the Scheduler Log screen in the System Data module, where users can review, verify, and manage upcoming report executions. This centralized view offers transparency and control over all automated deliveries. For users who also have the SDSLDELJOB privilege, the Scheduler Log goes a step further by allowing deletion of scheduled jobs directly from the interface. For details on using this log, refer to System Data - Scheduler Log. To learn more about scheduling an export, refer to Schedule Export.
