Shared Resources - Create Business Partner

Creating a business partner record in order to create a vendor record is usually carried out in the Accounts Payable module. As mentioned, a business partner record is the base of a vendor record.

Ensure Business Partner Not Already Added

First, ensure that the business partner does not already exist to avoid duplicating data and missing any important information. To do so, search for the business partner’s name. For assistance with performing searches in Enterprise, please refer to the Getting Started guide.

De-duplication Searching Function

The 'Enable De-duplication Searching Function' box can be found in the Company Control screen of the Opportunity Management module. This box can be checked to reduce unwanted duplications. For details about this option, please refer to the System Options sub-section of the Company Control section in the Opportunity Management guide.

NOTE: When the 'Enable De-duplication Searching Function' checkbox is checked, the [Table Mode] button will not be available when the user is creating new records in the Organization Management, Opportunity Management, and Contacts screens. This is necessary to prevent more than one record being saved at the same time, which cannot be handled by the de-duplication searching function.
