US Payroll - Min/Max Values
Pgm: PYCOMMAX – Company Min/Max Value Maintenance; standard Treeview path: US Payroll > Setup > Company > Min/Max Values
This screen allows each company to set a minimums and maximums for benefits, deductions, and benefit/deduction groups. For example, a Christmas fund deduction may be done on a salary percentage basis per week but it may have a maximum contribution of $1000 per year.
Company, Transaction Type
Enter/select the company and select the transaction type for which to set min/max values.
Transaction Code
Enter/select the benefit or deduction code for which to define min/max values. This transaction code must have been set up in the Benefit/Deduction Maintenance screens in the Administration menu.
Plan Code, Plan Option
Enter/select the benefit/deduction plan code and option.
Limit For
Select from the drop-down menu whether to set a limit on deductions for employees, employers, or both.
For example, this could be used to limit an employer’s 401k deduction contribution to $4000 annually. Once the limit is reached the system does not calculate any further contribution to the 401k from the employer, but continues calculation for the employee’s contribution. If there is a separate limit for employee 401k contribution, then calculation continues up to that limit.
This field is set by default to “Employee” for benefit calculations.
Amount Type
Select “Premium” for employee benefit/deduction amounts and “Gross” for the calculated earnings for the benefit/deduction.
Employee Code
Enter/select the employee number.
Trd Code
Enter/select the trade code.
Frequency
Select the period of calculation. If the maximum is exceeded in this period, the transaction is no longer calculated for the remainder of that period.
Minimum
Enter the minimum value for the transaction type. Any value processed below this amount is increased accordingly.
For example, a company has a benefit that is 4% of gross earnings. If gross earnings for a particular pay are $1000, then the benefit amount would be $40. However, if $50 is entered as the minimum on the benefit for the same frequency as the pay period, the calculation would be raised to $50.
Maximum
Enter the maximum value for the transaction type. Any value processed above this amount is decreased accordingly.
Working in conjunction with the frequency option, the system accumulates the transaction values over the period of time specified by the frequency until it reaches the maximum. Once reached, the transaction code is not calculated again until the period is over.
NOTE: Maximum and minimum limits can be set for a benefit/deduction group. If a weekly limit is set and the total amount of the benefits/deductions in that group exceeds the limit, the benefits/deductions are pro-rated on the amount of the limit. If a yearly limit is set and the total amount of the benefits/deductions in that group exceeds the limit, the benefits/deductions are pro-rated, and those benefits/deductions are no longer calculated when processing payroll in the next period.
Sum on Plan/Option – Checkbox
Check this box if the min/max limit is used as an accumulated limit for all plans and for all options.
