Human Resources - Employee Work Modifications

The Work Modifications screen is used to change work environments for employees or applicants. These changes are usually made to accommodate medical conditions. Several restrictions to the nature of the work may be in effect simultaneously for one worker.

Employee Detail

Employee

Enter/select the code of the employee.

Dominant Hand

Select the dominant hand of the employee.

Effective Date

Enter/select the date the work modifications come into effect.

End Date

Enter/select the date the work modifications are no longer in effect. Leave this field blank to apply the modifications indefinitely.

Re-evaluate Date

Enter/select the date to review the work modifications.

Info Source

Select whether the work modification was established prior to the employee starting work (pre-placement), or during the period of employment due to a physical, medical, injury or illness, or some other reason.

Case No.

If “Injury/Illness” was selected in the Info Source field, then enter/select the reference number for the incident. These codes can be set in the Enter Incidents screen (standard Treeview path: Human Resources > Safety > Enter Incidents).

Medical

If “Medical” was selected from the Info Source field, then enter/select the code for the medical exam in question.

Status

Select the status of the modification. Select “Alternate” if this modification was denied, but another was granted in its place.

Addr. Company, Site Address

Enter/select the company installing the work modification and the specific site where this will be done. These codes can be set in the Address screen (standard Treeview path: System > Setup > Global Tables > Address).

HR Region

Enter/select the code for the regional HR office.

Last Review Date

Enter/select the date, upon which, the final review of the work modification takes place.

Last Agreement Date

Enter the last date that an agreement was reached regarding work modifications. This should be automatically updated each time a work modification agreement is printed.

Comments

Enter any further comments about the modification.

[End Work Modifications] – Button

Press this button to bring up a screen which allows instant cancellation of all work modifications defined for this employee.

Work Restriction

Enter detailed information about the work modifications here. Work modifications fall into two categories: activities, such as lifting, climbing stairs, and bending down; and quantifiable limitations, such as the maximum weight an employee can lift and the temperature of the workplace. The former should be associated with a frequency that specifies how often the activity can be performed. The latter should be associated with a numerical limit.

Work Modification

Enter/select the work modification in question.

Frequency

If the modification is an activity, enter/select when and how often the modification should be in effect. These codes can be set in the Work Modification Frequencies screen (standard Treeview path: Human Resources > Setup > Codes > Work Modification Frequencies).

End Date

Enter/select the date when this work modification expires. This date is optional and overrides the end date in the general section if it precedes it.

Limit

If the modification is a quantifiable limitation, enter the numeric limit applicable to the work modification.
