Human Capital Management - Courses and Modules

Courses and Modules; standard Treeview path: HCM > Training > Courses and Modules

This program allows for the definition of courses and modules within those courses. Classes can be created for these modules in the Classes screen. Employees can then assign themselves to both classes or courses in the My Class Enrollment and My Course Enrollment screens, respectively.

NOTE: Employees can’t be assigned to modules directly. Instead they should be assigned to classes or to whole courses.

New courses and modules can be added with the [Add] button. Changes can be committed by pressing the [Save] button.

Course – Section

Code, Name, Description

Enter the code, name, and full description for the module. Once the course has been saved, its code can’t be changed although all other fields can be edited.

Vendor

If a vendor is supplying the course, then enter/select their code. These codes can be created and maintained in the Maintain Vendors screen in Enterprise (standard Treeview path: Accounts Payable > Setup > Maintain Vendors).

Type

Select the educational level of the course. These codes can be set in the Course Types screen.

Self-Service – Checkbox

Check this box to allow employees to assign themselves to the course in the My Course Enrollment screen.

Trainer, Training Team

Enter/select the person or persons taking the course. Codes for trainers and teams can be set in the Trainers and Trainer Teams screens, respectively.

Module – Section

Modules can be added to a course by pressing the Plus icon () below the section header. A course can be made up of as many modules as is necessary.

Code, Name, Description

Enter the code, name, and full description of the module.

Internal – Checkbox

Check this box if the module is run by the company whose employees are taking it.

Vendor

If a vendor is supplying the module, then enter/select their code. These codes can be created and maintained in the Maintain Vendors screen in Enterprise (standard Treeview path: Accounts Payable > Setup > Maintain Vendors).

Web Link

If there is a website for the course, then provide the URL here.

Prerequisite Course

If other courses need to be completed prior to taking this module, then enter those course codes here.

Reimbursable – Checkbox

Check this box if employees taking the module can be reimbursed for the cost of attendance.

Duration

Enter the length of the course and select the unit of that length.

Credit Points, Credit Hours

If the module is working off a credit system, then enter how many credit points and hours the module is worth.

Frequency

Select how often the module takes place. Frequency codes can be set in the Frequency Status screen.

Cost

Enter the individual monetary cost of the course.

Location

Enter where the course will take place.

Trainer, Training Team

Enter/select the person or persons taking the module. Codes for trainers and teams can be set in the Trainers and Trainer Teams screens, respectively.
