GC Monitor - Setup - Forecasting Equipment

Overview

GC Monitor can be used to forecast not only labor, but equipment as well. This article outlines how to activate the equipment component in GC Monitor. The setup is the same as for labor.

Process

Enable Equipment Cost Code

Pgm: JCCATFM – Maintain Cost Categories; standard Treeview path: Job Costing > Setup > Local Tables > Enter Category

Check the 'Available On GC Monitor' checkbox for the equipment cost code on the Maintain Cost Categories screen in the Job Costing module.

Pgm: JCPRODSU – Assign Job Cost Codes; standard Treeview path: Job Costing > Job> Assign Cost Codes

If this option is not checked on the Maintain Cost Categories screen, this option can also be enabled for specific jobs on the Assign Job Cost Codes screen when assigning categories to cost codes in the Job Costing module.

Pgm: JBCONT – Contract Entry; standard Treeview path: Job Billing > Contracts > Enter Contract

Otherwise, it can be enabled in the Contract Entry screen in the Job Billing module when setting up the Schedule of Values.

Assign Resource Needs

Pgm: PMPROJFM – Enter Project screen; standard Treeview path: Job Costing > Job > Enter Project - Needs tab

Resource needs can be assigned to both opportunities and projects in the Needs tab of the Project Maintenance screen in the Job Costing module.

Make Equipment Tab Visible

Pgm: RPFCAST – GC Monitor; standard Treeview path: Job Costing > Forecasting > GC Monitor - Equipment tab

The default setting for the Equipment tab in GC Monitor is hidden. The Lite Editor tool is used to make the tab visible. In the Lite Editor tool pop-up window, click on the Tabs tab to make the Equipment tab visible at your user level.

Complete Needs in Resource Planning

Resource Planning Detail screen

Complete the resource needs as required. The Resource Planning Details screen in the Resource Planning module is used to assign resources to needs of projects, and to view assignment details of needs over a range of dates.

Both the labor and equipment bill codes are available to GC Monitor forecasting.

When you click on the labor line, you will see the data from Resource Planning on the Labor tab but you will see nothing on the Equipment tab. That is because you are specifically on the labor bill code line. The opposite will be true if you are on the equipment line.

To see both tabs at the same time, you must access GC Monitor from the Job Costing module, as shown in the screenshots below.
