ESS Employee - Skills

Skills; standard Treeview path: Employee Self Service > Personal Information > Skills

This screen can be used to update the type of and experience in skills for an employee. In each of the four sections documented below, the Experience (Months) field can be edited.

The information in this screen can be set in the Skills screen (standard Treeview path: Human Capital Management > File Maintenance > Skills).

Skills On File – Section

This section displays the skills that have already been added to the Employee Profile. Check the ‘Select to delete’ box to delete the skill when the [Submit] button is pressed.

Skills To Be Added – Section

This section displays skills to be added to the Employee Profile when the [Submit] button is pressed. These skills will then appear in the Skills On File section. Check the ‘Select to cancel’ box to cancel this action.

Skills To Be Deleted – Section

This section displays the skills to be deleted when the [Submit] button is pressed. Check the ‘Select to cancel’ box to cancel this action.

Other Skills In System – Section

This section displays any other skills which have been defined which do not appear into the first three sections. These can be added to the Employee Profile by checking the ‘Select to add’ box.

After choosing which skills to add or delete, enter the number of months’ worth of experience, effective date, and an optional comment.

To delete a saved request, press the [Delete] button. To submit the request, press the [Submit] button, and press the [Save] button to save the changes.

If the ‘Skill Auto Approval’ box is checked in the Self Service Control Setup screen, the request is automatically approved and displayed in the Auto Approved Request List screen with a submit status of “A”. If this box is not checked, the request is not automatically approved and appears in the Personal Information Change Request Approval screen. It is also displayed in the Auto Approved Request List screen, this time with a submit status of “S”.

Once approved, the skills added are displayed in the Skills on file section, and the original record will be editable again. The original record will be updated with the changes that were approved, and the skills will be updated in the Employee Profile also. Press the [Skills] button on the Employee Profile to view the updated skills.

If the skills request is rejected, the record with the same transaction number can be edited once more.
