Contract Forecasting Has a New Look!

A new interface for Contract Forecasting is available on Patch 17. Over the past several months, CMiC has been working on improving the Contract Forecasting user experience with a focus on navigation and configuration. Customers using the Construct PM module will notice the new interface now matches the look and experience of the existing logs and queries like the RFI Log and the Cost Status Query. No changes were made to the calculations, storing or archiving, or business logic of Contract Forecasting.

Key Features in the New Interface for Contract Forecasting

  • Streamlined Navigation: The new interface has a more intuitive navigation system that allows users to quickly filter directly in the columns and can use the Search bar to query all columns with a single search.

  • Improved Configuration: Users can now configure the layout of the columns directly on-screen by dragging and dropping columns to their desired position. Users can also adjust the width of columns directly on-screen to ensure that large text like Bill Code Descriptions can be easily read.

  • Continuous Scrolling: Contract Forecasting will load the entire job or billing contract so users only have to scroll to the bottom of the page to see more rows. Users will no longer need to adjust the Rows Per Page or navigate between pages as this has been removed.

  • Collapsible Contract Query/Filter Header: In order to provide as much on-screen real estate as possible, users can collapse the query/filter section of Contract Forecasting. Users can click on the blue arrow to expand or collapse the query.

  • Replaced the Go button with an Update Button. Users will now click the Update button to display Contract Forecasting rows. The Update button functions exactly the same way as the Go button and only the name as been changed.

  • Replaced Cost to Complete Magnifying Glass Button with Blue Calculator Button: The Cost to Complete magnifying glass that used to open the details pop-up has been replace with a blue calculator. Users will click the calculator icon to add details to Cost to Complete or to open GC Monitor.

Accessing the New Interface for Contract Forecasting

The new interface for Contract Forecasting can be accessed by adding a new program to the Construct PM treeview. We ask that customers manually add this program so they can control which of their end users will access the new interface. This will give customers the opportunity to test the new interface, provide feedback, and update their training material before CMiC removes the existing (old) Contract Forecasting program. For testing and comparison purposes, customers can run both old and new Contract Forecasting programs on the same project.

Removing the Old Contract Forecasting Program/Interface

CMiC will be removing the existing (old) Contract Forecasting program on Patch 23. Over the next several months customers will have time to review, test, provide feedback, and update training material before CMiC no longer supports the existing (old) Contract Forecasting program. After Patch 23, the existing (old) Contract Forecasting program will be automatically replaced with the new interface and customers will no longer be required to manually add the program to the treeview.

Providing Feedback

CMiC asks that customers submit cases, as they normally do now, for bugs, issues, and feedback with the new interface. These cases will be managed the same way bugs and issues are handled now so customers do not need to change their process for submitting cases.

What to Test

CMiC asks customers to test the new interface by going through their usual forecasting process and paying close attention to saved overrides, filters are working correctly, and storing and archiving is updating WIP and dashboards correctly. We ask that customers with customizations in forecasting test those specific customizations to verify they are continuing to work as expected.
