Construct CHK - Frequently Asked Questions
Facial Recognition & Photo Capture
NOTE: The Facial Recognition and Photo Capture features will be released in Nexus 02.
Do I need to do anything extra to have my photo taken?
No. Once the Photo Capture feature is enabled, the camera activates automatically the moment you enter your PIN and there is no separate button to press.
Do I need to register my face before I can use Facial Recognition?
No separate registration step is needed. The first time you touch Sign In With Facial ID, the system captures your photo and creates your vector automatically, then falls back to PIN for that one visit.
What happens if the system doesn't recognize my face?
You're automatically prompted to enter your PIN instead. If the Photo Capture feature is enabled, a photo is taken during that PIN entry.
Does the app store a picture of my face?
No. Recognition uses a mathematical vector derived from your facial features, not a stored photo used for matching. A photo is captured only at first-time enrollment and stored for audit purposes.
What happens to my photo after it's taken?
It's stored with your Employee ID, the action type (start/end shift or break), and a timestamp, and is retained according to the configured Photo Retention Policy unless it's tied to a facial vector.
Is my location tracked when I clock in?
Yes. GPS coordinates are captured silently at every clock action for compliance and are stored alongside the photo or vector record. No action is needed from you.
Can I still clock in if there's no internet connection?
Yes, once the app has completed its initial data download. All four clock actions work offline for both PIN and Facial Recognition authentication . Your PIN is validated locally on the device, and data syncs automatically once you're back online.
Who can delete my facial vector if it's mapped incorrectly?
Only a Biometric Admin or Security Admin can delete or reset a vector. This is a separate permission from general HR/Payroll Admin access. For more information, please refer to Deleting or Resetting a Facial Vector.
Why is the Retain Photos for field greyed out?
The Photo Capture feature is currently set to "Disabled". Retention only applies once the Photo Capture feature is turned on, so the field is automatically set to "Not Applicable" until then.
Does turning off Photo Capture also turn off Facial Recognition?
No. The two settings are independent. Disabling the Photo Capture feature does not disable the Facial Recognition feature if it's separately enabled, and vice versa.
