Advanced RFIs

CMiC has added support for Advanced RFIs.

Prerequisite

As a prerequisite, advanced RFIs need to be enabled by Autodesk by sending them an invitation to be an admin on your project.

Mapping

Each project has a field linked to it named Advance RFI Project which decides whether it is an old RFI project (N) or an advanced RFI (Y). Once a particular PlanGrid project is linked to an old CMiC RFI project, it cannot be switched to advanced and vice versa.

Synching RFIs Settings

The Sync Advanced Draft RFIs checkbox in this section decides whether the user or system has to sync advanced draft RFIs or not.

If the checkbox is checked, then the RFIs with the status of "Draft" will also be synched with other RFIs. If the checkbox is not checked, then the draft RFIs will be skipped while synching.

Synchronization Controls

This section gives us the option whether we need to sync from “CMiC to PlanGrid” or “PlanGrid to CMiC” or both. For advanced RFIs the related checkboxes are “Advance RFIs”. Similarly, it works in old RFIs based on the checkboxes for “RFIs”.

The syncing of old RFIs and advanced RFIs work in a similar way:

  • It syncs the RFIs which gets updated or created after the last sync. While syncing, all the data and attachments get updated and synced.

  • If any new RFI is created in PlanGrid after the last update, it will be created under the CMiC project while syncing. Assuming that the option of “PlanGrid to CMiC” is checked.

  • If the existing RFI is updated or anything else is added, the same will get updated in the RFI present in CMiC. Assuming that the option of “PlanGrid to CMiC” is checked.

  • Same works vice versa. If the new RFI is created or an existing one is updated in the CMiC project, it will get created or updated in PlanGrid while syncing. Assuming that the option of “CMiC to PlanGrid” is checked.

  • The status in PlanGrid will have a different description compared to the old ones.

  • There are some new attributes added in the PlanGrid advanced RFI project, such as Manager and Watcher.

  • Manager and Submitter in PG are mapped to the same field, which is the Sender in CMiC. The Watcher field in PG can be ignored for now.
