Share Large Attachments via Download Link
Why is it Useful?
When sending large attachments via I/O email, CMiC has added the option for these files to be shared using a download link rather than attaching them to the email itself. This feature will be useful in situations when Submittal and RFI attachments are too large for email but users still want to take advantage of I/O email to collaborate with other project team members. In cases like this, large attachments may cause the email to be rejected by the recipient's email provider, which can be difficult to track so the sender may not know this has happened (causing delays). Now users can share large attachments via a download link which guarantees that everyone will receive the email as expected.
NOTE: This feature was released in Patch 15-2 under Issue 22.54468.
How Does it Work?
Users will continue using I/O email as they normally would. If they would like to send large attachments via a download link, they can check 'Share via Download Link' in the header of the I/O email prompt. The download links will appear in the body of the email.
Assign Expiration Time to Download Link
An expiration time must be assigned to the download link in CMiC Field, otherwise an error message will be triggered. Download link expiration is set in the Maximum Download Link Expiration (days) field, which is located on the General tab of the Project System Options screen in CMiC Field, as shown in the screenshot below. The value in this field must be greater than or equal to "1". If this field is "0" or left blank, the download link received by a user will result in an error message when the user attempts to open the link. The error message will indicate "The requested page is unauthorized."
