CMiC Field - Using AI Drawing Extraction
To access AI Drawing Extraction, users must ensure the following setup steps are complete:
1. Licensing
Users interested in using this functionality should contact their Account Manager. A support case will be created to enable the required AI licensing.
NOTE: This licensing setup step applies only to Enterprise and newly-implementing Cloud customers. All currently implemented Cloud customers already received the required AI licensing as of Patch 22 and do not need to submit a request.
2. System Privileges
Once licensing has been enabled, assign the privilege ' AIASKAL – CMiC AI: Allows the user to use "AI" functionality'. This is done in the System Privileges tab of the User Maintenance screen in the System Data module.
Pgm: SDUSRMNT – User Maintenance; standard Treeview path: System > Security > User Maintenance – System Privileges tab
3. System Options
Users must acknowledge the Terms of Use and enable Ask AI in the AI tab of the System Options screen.
Pgm: SYSOPT – System Options; standard Treeview path: System > Setup > System Options – AI tab
Using AI Drawing Extraction
Once the privilege, system options, and licensing are in place:
-
Navigate to CMiC Field > Document Management > Drawings and Specs Upload.
-
Upload your drawing sheets.
-
Enter required metadata:
-
Version Name
-
Revision Date
-
Received Date
-
-
Press [Extract with AI] to automatically detect and extract the Sheet Number and Sheet Title.
Drawing & Specification Management; standard Treeview path: CMiC Field > Document Management > Drawings and Specs Upload
Once the extraction has completed, users will be able to verify their sheets and publish their drawings as expected.
NOTE: While the AI tool greatly reduces the amount of manual input required, minor adjustments may occasionally be needed to ensure all details are captured correctly. As part of best practice, a final review ensures the highest level of accuracy and consistency across your drawing sets before publishing.
